A little while ago, I had the clever idea to use a photomosaicing program to build up a little snapshot-of-the-day... the idea was to only use images relevant to the day, say like a wedding, or children's day out or something, but I found out that even a 1000 images is not enough to get a decent tonal range to make a photomosaic...

I remember seeing some photomosaics in an old bookstore, and being so COMPLETELY wowed away... my head started spinning with ideas, I was so inspired... it was art, i tell you... until i found out it was a machine.. :'(

Somehow the idea of using a computer to automatically stitch 10,000s of unrelated images from a database to make a picture is not so appealing...

If I can't make it by hand, dammit! at least I must be able to do using only shots from a project (say 1000-1500 pictures)... any suggestions anyone??
