Yes, that´s a well known issue, sometimes called "grain aliasing". Read e.g. Norman Koren:

The effect is peculiar to fims with silver grains (all traditional B/W films), but not colour or the chromogenic B/W films. Some people recommend using only chromogenics when one plans to scan the film.
