Canon's 10D cameras sometimes come from the factory with a less than perfect
focus. Borrow a good lens (like a Canon L series lens) and see if the
problem is still there. If it is, you may have to send the camera (and lens,
since they are adjusted to one another) to Canon for recalibration.

As they explain on that site, there are other areas of error. You probably
should read the site before you reach any conclusions.
