Finally, every time I take a negative out of the sleeve and put it back, I do more damage than happens to any digital file in normal usage.
I lost several CD's of digital photographs in a matter of a couple months and they were just sitting quietly in their jewel cases on the shelf. They were irrecoverable.
I have to believe that something went very wrong, and probably not with the CDs.
I have music CDs from the first year they were commercially available in the US, mid to late 70s. I have data CDs that I made from six or so years ago that are fine.
Also, I always keep a hard disc copy.
And I still thinking something drastically wrong must have been done when making them.
