As you may not recall, this was in the 1960's and there were few lens manufacturers at that time. What was most interesting was how much it influenced the 35mm amature photo market AT THAT TIME. Vivitar is/was a much used movie camera lens at that time, and -- most important -- Vivitar was the one willing to do it for him. S.
