Well, if Ami Vitale sells herself so short there's no reason you
should. Ami needs to be sent to the EP web site too!
She has the advantage of being a famous photog at a very young age,
and of being the recipient of awards worth money nearly every year
for the last 4 or 5. But she puts herself into a number of very
dangerous positions for a creative fee that low.
And keep in mind that photojournalism is the most exploitive system
around right now. See my long letter to Angi last week about
shooting for newspapers.
Unless you have a trust fund or working spouse, you can't afford to
work for newspapers anyway except as an employee. And by working for
such low fees you set the bar too low for those who don't have trust
funds and working spouses.
Tell Ami she's worth a lot more than that and it's time for her to
start specifying realworld fees.
