I don't like or use Xtol but I use a Rubbermaid bucket to mix my 5 liter
Hypo Clearing agent and have a five liter jug that Rapid Fixer Part A came
in that I marked at exactly 5 liters, so I mix at almost the final volume
and then pour out into my jug and make the final volumetric adjustment.
Your could also just mark the bucket to exactly 5 liters and then pour off
your developer into smaller bottles, a good idea anyway to minimize
developer oxidation.
