Reminds me of that saying - "for every complex problem there is a simple answer - and it is wrong."
You can't do the egg trick unless you first know that there is a air sac at the fat end and Alexander didn't untie the Gordian knot (always annoyed me, that one). He was just standing in someone's light again.
I believe that there's been some interesting maths done on complex knots to try and prove that you Can tie one that is unsolveable. Beyond me but.

while campaigning somewhere in the middle east he was presented with the chalenge to untie a know linking two carriages...
this knot was actually a bundle of a never ending rope, so there was no end for someone to start with...
well, the man just cut it with his sword...
