RE: Chargeable Webs??

Hi,
I've misunderstood the data from the server. Here are the results I'm
quoting. It is only 16685 file requests in one week. Over a million since
my page has been there.

I don't understand the read out there is one entry that says 379 distinct
requests.

Remember if a page has 10 images then there are 11 file requests when
someone opens that page.

Here is the server report: (Partial - Full report is very long).
(Figures in parentheses refer to the 7-day period ending Jan 29 2003 at
11:15 AM).
Successful requests: 1,349,406 (16,685)
Average successful requests per day: 5,546 (2,383)
Successful requests for pages: 607,687 (4,060)
Average successful requests for pages per day: 2,497 (579)
Failed requests: 122,081 (1,393)
Redirected requests: 1,525 (10)
Distinct files requested: 14,634 (379)
Distinct hosts served: 6,549 (589)
Data transferred: 66.882 gigabytes (1.199 gigabytes)
Average data transferred per day: 281.522 megabytes (175.462 megabytes)

That is more than one "File Request" per second.

What *exactly* do you mean by the phrase?
How do you measure it?
If your web page has 10 objects on it does one visit generate 10 such
requests?
If someone presses refresh, is that onother 10?
How long do they stay?
(Thinks, you have not got any "ambiguous" keywords have you (like on my
birds page where I show photos of tits and boobies in the bush ;o))

Thinking: I can't believe there are 1000000 people per week actually looking
at your site (well, possibly, but bear with me). I'm not actually convinced
there are one million robots either ...
Google gets millions for sure ...

How many unique visits per week ?
