as requested by colleagues from College of DuPage ------------- from List HQ College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, Illinois TITLE: Associate Dean, Fine and Applied Arts DEPARTMENT: Liberal Arts ------------------------------------------------------------------------ College of DuPage is seeking applications for a new full-time administrative position of Associate Dean of Fine and Applied Arts to provide strong leadership for a professionally active faculty in 25 areas of study. Duties include coordinating plans consistent with the goals of the institution and the McAninch Arts Center and fostering an environment conducive to excellent teaching, learning, and artistic endeavors. Collaboration with the Director of Performing Arts is essential to ensure integration of the educational priorities with five resident ensembles, an active student performance schedule, and external presentations. Additional responsibilities include hiring and evaluating faculty and art lab technicians, designing schedules, staffing sections, preparing and managing unit budgets, ensuring delivery of quality programs, supervising the maintenance of equipment, tools, and instruments in the Art Center, participating in the accreditation processes, and other regulatory processes. Other duties may include resource development, grant writing, and other projects as assigned. Masters in Fine Arts, with three years administrative experience in higher education, demonstrated ability to manage faculty and two years full-time teaching experience is required. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent communication and organizational skills, conflict resolution skills, and the ability to lead and manage a large sub-division. A Ph.D., experience working in fine or applied art field, and a record of outstanding artistic production are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. This position is available April, 2002. Starting salaries are commensurate with education and experience. This is a twelve-month assignment.
