Advertising usage contracts are as complex as editorial. Start with
the free resources at http://www.editorialphoto.com, then search APA
(Advertising Photographers of America) and ASMP sites for advertising
help. License fees should be based on projected media buy. I hope
you've not yet negotiated the fee. Register the image, as well as a
bundle of others, with the Copyright Office today (one big $30 fee
for as many jpegs as you can fit on a CD, or as many pages of slides
as you wish to include).

Please go to editorial photo for all the basic info you need to cover your ass.

You never "sell a photo", unless you're selling a single print of a
photo in a gallery. You license usage of an image which you hold and
retain the complete right to permit copying. Permission to exercise
your license is often contingent upon payment in advance. For
advertising you would do well to have releases from any people in the
image, even not clearly identifiable.

Good luck.

Do all photographers trying to make a living a favor and don't charge
too little.
