While you should always take into account taxes and cost of living (and these things can be high in NYC), at least a couple of your figures are quite exaggerated: taxi fares are fixed at $2.50 + $0.40/ (quarter mile or 60 seconds)[1] and I've had many filling meals at restaurants in Manhattan for much less that $30.
