What did you say you > had work_mem set to? Initially on the first crash it was 256MB. I believe at the time of the crash I got the dump for it was down to 64MB or 8MB. I kept trying lower values. Also tried reducing shared_buffers as someone suggested. I will bump my shared_buffers back to 3GB and work_mem back to 64MB.
