If your clients front-ends use a form of Optimistic locking, they will probably balk at update-able views on vertically partitioned joined tables. However, in the case of using ODBC, there was a work-around that solved the problem of optimistic locking. However, you are still faced with the problem of update anomalies caused by concurrent updates on your base tables. http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-odbc/2006-12/msg00029.php -- Regards, Richard Broersma Jr. Visit the Los Angles PostgreSQL Users Group (LAPUG) http://pugs.postgresql.org/lapug
