Re: failing to start posgresql.

I have done so but I am not seeing the location of log files. Another
question, is it possible to do a fresh installation of postgresql server and
then replace the </var/lib/pgsql/data> folder with the one on my old
installation and get my old database?

take a look inside the rpm and see what it installed:

  rpm -ql <rpmname>
