Works for me: (version 8.1)


test=*# SELECT 20.00::numeric(38,2);
 numeric
---------
   20.00
(1 row)

test=*# SELECT 20.00::numeric(38,20);
         numeric
-------------------------
 20.00000000000000000000
(1 row)
