I have a setup (Lighttpd + Mongrel + Ruby on Rails) that seems to be using persistent connection, yet I don't see any config setting in any of their configs to disable it. One of the culprits (likely Mongrel) is keeping postgres connections around, eventually hitting postgres' max connections limit, even though the setup isn't getting much traffic currently.
