Never used it myself; funnily enough I stumbled on it a few weeks back and wondered if it was some nifty feature I'd overlooked, then I realized I've stumbled across it before several times and each time promptly forgotten about it. Moreover a quick Google search (in quotation marks) brings up a few pages mainly of documentation copies, configuration file snippets happening to contain "db_user_namespace", a few mostly very non-recent mailing list/forum questions, but nothing which screams "this feature is used widely".
