salmo, 127.0.0.1 is the server/workstation that has everything installed. It

is localhost.

127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain   localhost

127.0.1.1       salmo.appl-ecosys.com   salmo # for slrn

Yeah that's your problem. PostgreSQL isn't going to be listening on 127.0.1.1
