Thanks for your help, Magnus. This problem was way over my head, so I´m glad I can leave it behind. I´ll will try to secure the PostgreSQL/PostGIS database using ordinary backup methods. Regards Anders Söderman Stockholm Sweden

Note that storing the PostgreSQL data on a SMB mount is *not* safe and

not supported. I don't know how your specific disk does it, but if it

uses SMB or NFS, this is not safe. If it's an iSCSI mount, for

example, it should be safe. But it certainly looks like an SMB mount -

in which case you should rethink your strategy.

 

I would bet your problems are caused by this.
