Lists (In) performance

Hi,

Is the use of lists "Where field IN ('A',...'Z')" faster than using
multiple conditions like "Where field = 'A' OR .... field = 'Z'" ? In
every situation ? Depends on what ?

Note: (I guess im mistaken, but i remeber seeing that at the pgsql
manual somewhere)
