Indeed there is: you can use an ARRAY constructor with SELECT. Here's some PGPLSQL code I have (simplified and with the variable names shrouded).

     SELECT INTO m
       ARRAY(SELECT d FROM hp
           WHERE hp.ss=$1
                ORDER BY 1);
