My company, Instructure, is looking to hire a full time DBA to help maintain and improve our suite of ed tech services. Over the last decade, we have gone from a small startup to a company which helps tens of millions of students worldwide in their daily education. But we're still growing, and that's where you come in. We're looking for somebody who loves to keep data safe and available, knows how to future-proof a database system without being wasteful, appreciates the need to keep processes sustainable, and loves consulting with fellow employees to maximize their success.

Some things you'll be doing:
- improve the automation of our large fleet of servers
- investigate issues and be proactive in keeping things from falling over
- be part of an on-call team
- own projects and drive them to completion
- be a point of contact for questions from others in the company

Some skills that will make you stand out:
- strong communication skills
- a strong understanding of posix concepts
- experience with pgBouncer
- experience with AWS services
- configuration management tools, such as Ansible
- Ruby, bash, git, Python, Go, etc.
- postgres performance tuning

Some reasons why I've been at Instructure over a decade:
- the fruits of your labor goes towards education, not selling widgets nobody needs or making rich people a bit more money
- we have the mandate to solve the problems we encounter
- we have a collaborative, constructive culture
- we strongly encourage a healthy work/life balance

This particular opening is in our Budapest office. Any euro citizen can apply, but this is not a remote position. You'll be working in our office in Budapest.

If this all sounds good, feel free to either send me your resume directly, or apply online at https://jobs.lever.co/instructure/be4a7802-6884-484b-a71a-2b7c36ed8533.

Thanks!
