Deriv.com is expanding and we are looking for a PostgreSQL Team Lead to join our team in Dubai (a full-time onsite opportunity; relocation is discussed individually)!

Your role
As a Database Team Lead at Deriv, you will coordinate the activities of our Database team to plan, install, and maintain our database systems. You will use your extensive experience to ensure that our Postgres databases are scalable, hackproof, properly backed-up, and redundant in case of failure. In collaboration with your team, you will guarantee the security, integrity, and seamless flow of information for our high-traffic online trading platform.
● The role is hands-on, technically challenging and fast paced
● The role requires close collaboration with the VP and the Principal Engineer for Storage to align with strategic goals
● You will plan and prioritize work to be progressed by the team
● You will nurture and grow a team with wide ranging abilities - from junior to expert level
● You will continually monitor and review the storage landscape, and look for ways to innovate and refine to meet ever-increasing volume, performance, security and availability challenges
● The role requires multi-site collaboration over different time zones
What you have
● 8+ years of related, recent, experience
● 3-5 years of experience leading a team
● Strong recent hands on software development and code review skills with PostgreSQL
● Strong hands on system administration using Linux on AWS/GCP
● Experience working with large, distributed, high-performance, high availability databases with 24/7 uptime
● Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
● A university degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field
● Occasional travel between office locations across the Globe
● A desire to continue to learn and keep up to date with the Postgres & Linux communities and best practices
What’s Good To Have
● Work experience in the fintech and/or trading industries advantageous
● Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform and database as a service advantageous
● Experience with database CI/CD tools and implementation advantageous
● Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL databases and Redis advantageous
