Requirements: Experience in maintaining databases in a cloud environment. Postgres and Clickhouse are strongly preferred, but experience with other databases may be considered for a very strong candidate. Experience with cloud technologies (AWS+GCP). Specifically in AWS, we are looking for prior experience with RDS, VPC, Route53, EBS, S3, EC2, SNS Experience with complex SQL on RDBMS and distributed columnar storage, preferably Postgres and Clickhouse, or BigQuery, Snowflake. Familiarity with advanced SQL constructs, best practices, SQL optimization and performance tuning. Experience with Linux command line. Experience with databases horizontal scaling and distributed databases, sharding, Postgres physical and logical replication solutions. Experience in relational and data warehouse data modeling, normalization and denormalization. Strong scripting and automation skills. Shell scripting is a must, python is very desirable. Experience with source control solutions, preferably git. Experience working in an agile team and delivering complex projects with minimal supervision. Good communication skills and team working. Skills in creating and maintaining documentation. Ability to work on a flexible schedule, significnatly overlapping with the Pacific Time zone business hours. Ability to provide pager coverage on schedule. Desire and interest in working with database technologies and solutions, desire to learn. 4+ years of experience in the field. Sorry, this is not a beginner position. Legally Authorized to Work in the United States.
Additional desirable skills: Practical experience with Docker and kubernetes. Ability to create, maintain, and troubleshoot kubernetes deployments. Experience with terraform, vault; understanding of CI/CD concepts. Experience with implementing and maintaining monitoring and alerting solutions based on Prometheus and Grafana. Understanding of NoSQL concepts. Ability to read and understand Java and Scala code.
