Morning, Could the below advert please be posted: Cromwell, based in Leicester, United Kingdom seeks an experienced DBA to join our established in-house DBA team to help support our UK and Global business operations. The primary objective is to oversee and maintain all aspects of the company's database estate - the security, design, deployment, optimisation, and ongoing monitoring, maintenance & support. This encompasses our on-prem UK & Global business operations and a steady migration into cloud hosted solutions. The DBA role will further provide best practise advice and hands-on support to other IT and Analytic data sections that utilise business data. Key Responsibilities: * Become an active DBA team member to jointly support database operations day to day. * Working predominantly with PostgreSQL v9+, to a lesser extent with Oracle 12c, MSSQL & MySQL * Engage in DBA related projects to design, configure, and deploy new solutions. * Undertake regular database patching & upgrades to minor or major versions as required. * Work with InfoSec to ensure databases and data management is consistent with current security, compliance, policies, and legislation. * Work with other core IT and Data teams to ensure they can function as per their needs. * Work with App Support to deploy new ERP and related SQL updates. * Work with Manhattan WMS Support to deploy SQL updates. * Ensure databases are monitored and remain available and optimal per day. * Ensure DR, HA & Standby databases are monitored and remain synchronous. * Provide Dev, QA & Test environment databases or data refreshes as per requested. * Troubleshoot database issues, resolving withing expected RTO. * Use diagnostics and statistics to baseline & improve existing queries, functions and enhance runtime performance. * Database maintenance - backup & recovery, maintaining replication, pglogical and hot standby clusters. * Database optimisation - indexing, analysing, bloat management, and vacuuming. * Database monitoring - actively monitor and react. Add new service checks. * Ticketing - organise, prioritise and service DBA related tickets within SLA. * Work with Digital to ensure AWS cloud-based databases are active, are backed up and remain highly available - Mostly MongoDB, RDS & Aurora Postgres. * Work with Analytics, Data warehousing and the warehouse teams to ensure their own systems are available & optimal per day. * Document Databases in terms of their use and build details, their configuration, and parameters. Maintain current DR documentation. * Provide support in and out of working hours as part of a formal support rota. * Explore and recommend new features, upgrades or technology that may improve or benefit existing operations. Key Skills & Experience: * Previous commercial experience as a DBA in a multi-tech database environment. * Proven track record in managing large deployments, DR and HA database environments. * Must have good understanding & hands-on experience of Linux OS (Redhat & Ubuntu) and Windows Server (2012+). * Must have Linux Shell scripting - ability to understand & write scripts in support of DBA related tasks. * Knowledge of Database security principles - excellent awareness of AAA Security model, its application & use. * Broad experience of performance tuning of host hardware & databases. * Broad knowledge of HA, backup & recovery, and replication methodologies. * Ability to understand, write, diagnose, and optimise all qualities of SQL code. * ANSI SQL knowledge. * Strong continuous improvement & problem-solving skills. * Good verbal and written communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. * Required - Extensive experience of Postgres v9+ (Design, implementation, and support in a HA environment): o Working with Postgres to design, architect and create new solutions. o Working with Postgres in support of existing in-house & 3rd party applications. o Working with Postgres as an ETL / intermediate in support of Salesforce API feeds, Elastic, and other upstream systems. o Extensive experience in using Postgres Features & Extensions, such as pgagent, parallel processing, foreign tables and materialized views. o Excellent experience in configuring, deploying, and maintaining pglogical data replication. o Postgres specific backup, recovery, and data replication techniques. * Desired - Experience of Oracle 12c (Design, implementation, and support in a HA environment): o Oracle OEM, DataGuard & Datapump. * Desired - Experience of AWS databases (RDS & Aurora Postgres, MongoDB) * Desired - Experience of MSSQL & MySQL. * Desired - Prior experience using ETL Tools such as Talend, WebMethods or Mulesoft. * Desired - Awareness of Data warehousing, Qlik reporting and data mining principles and use.
