MigOps is looking for a Database Migration Specialist in India with the following responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assess the existing Oracle or SQL Server or other heterogeneous databases for migrations to PostgreSQL
- Validate if PostgreSQL suits as a target database technology before migration through POC.
- Perform migration of Oracle PL/SQL code that includes Packages, Procedures and Functions to PostgreSQL.
- Convert SQL’s from Oracle or SQL Server or DB2 or Sybase to PostgreSQL.
- Tune complex SQL’s, Views and Stored procedures to outperform the performance after migrations to PostgreSQL.
- Provide recommendations on the data types that suit in PostgreSQL.
- Perform data migrations using the In-house tools developed by MigOps.
- Provide recommendations to improve the data migration logic.
- Work closely with our Customers and provide continuous status updates while performing migrations.
Mandatory requirements :
- Should have at least 1 year of experience in writing Oracle PL/SQL code.
- Strong experience in performing Oracle to PostgreSQL migrations.
- At least 5 years of strong experience in writing PL/pgSQL and migrating Packages and Procedures from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
- At least 1 year of strong experience of coding in Python or Golang or Java. Expertise in bash scripting is a must.
- Should be able to find the best alternates in PostgreSQL for various Oracle features.
- Should have used migration tools like Ora2PG or Schema Conversion toolkit.
- Must be aware of the target data types in PostgreSQL that suit the corresponding Oracle data types while migrating objects from Oracle.
- Should have migrated data from Oracle to PostgreSQL using FDW’s or custom tools or existing open source tools.
- Knowledge on tools that enable continuous replication of data from Oracle to PostgreSQL is a plus.
