At Alpaca, we build many things from scratch without relying on legacy technology in the financial industry. In many applications we build, PostgreSQL is the center of transaction management and we heavily use it for things from brokerage accounting system to order management system. We are looking for skilled database/business logic engineer(s) with seasoned experiences building applications around PostgreSQL. Our backend application system is written in Go.You will be writing Go, PL/pgSQL, and plenty of raw SQL using different techniques (window functions, CTE, btree_gist, etc) as well as identifying bottlenecks and tuning the performance to achieve agile development of our fast moving business.
You are expected to have:
- 3-5 or more years experiences building and operating business applications with PostgreSQL
- Knowledge around PostgreSQL performance tuning
- Knowledge on PostgreSQL specific features such as FDW, PL/pgSQL, GiST, replications, etc)
- Ability to understand the business domain problems around financial transactions
- Proficient in one of application languages (Python, Ruby, Go, Java, etc) to build an application using databases
- Database maintenance skills and operate on things such as provisioning, upgrade, backup, replications, and schema maintenance.
- Be able to communicate directly with internal business users to understand the problems and provide solutions
