The Role

EnterpriseDB is looking for a Junior Sales Engineer or Postgresql DBA  to join and be trained into our team of sales engineering professionals. As a future Sales Engineer at EnterpriseDB, you will be responsible for supporting the sales team in all technical aspects of the sales process including presentations, demos, proof of value, pilots, technical workshops, technical account management etc. You will work close with Field & Insides Sales, Partners, Product Management & Engineering to be a conduit of technical requirements to & from EDB to our clients.

Qualifications:

BSc in Computer science (or, Computer/Electrical engineering) or, equivalent, and at least 1 to 2 years of direct experience (in the past 5 years) in the following areas:

 

Customer facing skills:

Ability or potential to deliver technical product presentations and workshops
Ability to demonstrate technical products and their feature sets
Ability to conduct product proof-of-value from initial requirements gathering to successfully achieving objectives and success criteria through clear planning and methodical execution
Commercial awareness

 

Database, Operating System, and Software skills:

Relational database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2). Active use or, administration of such database(s)
Good understanding of Relational database concepts
Good knowledge of SQL, and SQL query tuning & debugging techniques
DB server tuning and debugging experience
Basic Linux system administration experience
Software installation & software troubleshooting experience

 

Good understanding of the following concepts in relation to databases:

High Availability
Scalability
Performance trade-offs
Security & related concepts

 

Personal attributes:

Motivated self-starter and self-learner
Team player

 

Desirable Qualifications:

Some level of understanding and/or experience in the following areas:

 

Cloud skills:

Private/Public/Hybrid Clouds - AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMWare Cloud, and OpenStack, Virtualization
Containers (Docker), Microservices, PaaS (OpenShift, CloudFoundry) - In relation to Databases


Programming skills:

Some ability to program in one or more of the following languages - Java, Python, node js, ruby, C/C++ using database connectors (JDBC, python, node js, ODBC)
Understanding of (and able to write) bash shell scripts
Basic understanding of Git
Desire to learn more technical skills
 

Technical content development skills:

Desire in the future to author product feature blogs, create demo videos, and speak at conferences
