Role Description:
As a Database Engineer at VISI/ONE, you will be part of our Team and strengthen our agile development team and system administration. Together with the team, you will design and improve the high-performance services based on scalable databases supporting our product.

What you will be doing:
- Act as SME for database related topics towards developers, engineers and architects.
- Orchestrate our PostgreSQL databases.
- Maintain and optimize database schema.
- Implement, maintain and optimize database logic.
- Act as point of sign-off regarding all queries implemented by software developers.
- Support implementation of backend-side data management tools for business users.
- Lead implementation of database schema deployment chain.
- Continuously work on scalability of our databases in conjunction with software developers.
- Troubleshoot and fix bugs alongside operations and software developers.
- Degree in computer science or equivalent. Dropouts with a convincing story about the before, why and after are also welcome.
- Strong understanding of database products such as PostgreSQL and MS-SQL.
- Strong skills in using PL/pgSQL or PL/SQL to implement database logic.
- Vast experience in managing and maintaining database scaling with partitioning, followers, materialized views, rules, query rewriting, etc.
- Very strong skills in query optimization, indexing and schema optimization.
- Strong understanding of normalization and techniques and best practices for denormalization.
- Strong interest and ability to analyze systems for scalability and reliability.
- Good team communication skills and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communications skills in English and German would be cool, but hey, nobody is perfect.

- PostgreSQL extension like: PL/v8, PostGIS, hstore, PL/pgSQL, GIN, citext, dblink, fuzzystrmatch, PL/R
- Cross-schema logic
- Knowledge in node.js / server side _javascript_, especially with Sequelize, Apollo, GraphQL, node-pg, knex/bookshelf
- Query bulkification techniques in PostgreSQL on client and database side
