Job Description: Senior Software Architect (DevOps/Containers)
The Position
EDB is hiring a Senior Software Architect to work on our Cloud Team, designing and developing containers for our products in standalone deployments or clusters with automated configuration and integration.
The successful candidate will lead a new group within our Cloud Team, taking a role in both designing and implementing a range of containers to run in a variety of container environments.
Responsibilities
The Senior Software Architect’s responsibilities include:
- Working with Product Management, field engineers and other product teams to design and implement containers for deployment of our products.
- Development and implementation of features in containers to the agreed designs.
- Development of automated tests to verify functionality.
- Working with technical writing, QA staff and other team members to ensure containers are properly documented and fully tested.
- Working with support, and field staff to help resolve escalated issues and support sales and service engineers.
- Occasional writing of blog posts and how-to videos.
Profile
- 7+ years experience in software engineering
- B.S. Computer Science or Equivalent
- Experience working with container environments and tools including Docker and OpenShift.
- Experience developing containers for operation in Docker, OpenShift and similar environments
- Experience working with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm
- Experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience scripting in Python
- Experience with relational database systems such as PostgreSQL (preferred), Oracle or MySQL
- Good communication skills
- Aptitude for learning new subjects and mastering them
- Strong team player
- Ability to develop specifications for new products/features from outline requirements documentation
Other
The position will be based in either Bedford, Massachusetts, USA or Wantage, Oxfordshire, UK. The position will report to the Principal Architect (Cloud)
