Hi there!
Emma is currently looking for a highly competent PostgreSQL DBA to manage and grow our production and development infrastructure as we are entering a fast-growth stage of our business.

Emma's DBA will manage the day-to-day operations of one of the largest and most unique PostgreSQL database environments in the world, working closely with the infrastructure and development teams to create, test and implement architectural and schema changes required to support large customers, high query frequencies, and fast queries across large datasets.

You'll troubleshoot issues, gather data, optimize queries and database structure, and research errors. While PostgreSQL is the backbone of our database systems, we are also extensively using other RDBMS as well and expect those uses to increase as we grow.

Experience with AWS Aurora, MySql, PostgreSQL and Redshift is desirable.

DESIRED SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
    • Experience managing, supporting and designing terabyte sized high-availability PostgreSQL database systems
    • Experience with other types of database systems (Amazon Aurora, MySql, PostgreSQL, Redshift)
    • Strong SQL query writing and optimization skills
    • Strong SQLAlchemy experience
    • Strong troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills
    • Monitoring and reporting on performance metrics
    • Experience testing and debugging code alongside software engineers
    • On-call support in emergencies

IT'D BE NICE IF YOU HAD:

    • Experience with hardware
    • Fluency with at least one procedural SQL language (i.e. PL/pgSQL, PL/SQL, etc...)
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services
    • Experience with sqitch
    • Experience managing database systems within the ESP industry
Haven’t mastered everything in that list? That’s ok. We heavily weigh potential, a desire for learning, and passion for contributing.

Sound interesting? Emma offers competitive salaries, generous benefits and an enviable environment and culture. Our extremely talented, passionate, friendly group is looking to add yet another extremely talented, passionate, friendly colleague.

We currently have remote workers in CO, MI, IN, and NC, but if you’re interested in working remotely from another state, get in touch with us and we can talk.
