Job Description

Sharada has immediate need for a seasoned PostgreSQL expert to lead a number of key initiatives.
The ideal candidate possesses hands-on, in-depth knowledge and experience in all facets of Postgres including but not limited to day-to-day administration and troubleshooting, performance tuning, query optimization, storage, partitioning, replication, physical design, foreign data wrappers, security and analytics.
Skills & Requirements
Required:
---------
Proven field experience supporting and administering a non-trivial PG installation in a production environment.
Can configure PG databases from scratch for various use cases and end applications
Solid knowledge of PG backup and replication best practices, procedures and tools.
Advanced knowledge of SQL in general and PL/pgSQL in specific.
Knowledge of various approaches to PG replication and their tradeoffs.
Firm grasp of PG security, both authentication and authorization.
Ability to tune PG extensively depending on application requirements.
Able to suggest table indexes or view materialization to improve performance of important and frequent queries.
Approaches to sharding, partitioning and clustering PG.
Experience in PG EXPLAIN/execution plan analysis
Very comfortable in a Linux environment.
Knowledge of all RAID levels and advantages/disadvantages of each.
Optional:

Networking, OSI layers, standard protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.
SANs, LUNs, iSCSI, block-level mirroring/replication, clustering.
Docker or LXD
LDAP, Kerberos, Samba
