Position Summary: WhiteHat has an immediate opening for a PostgreSQL DBA in Belfast, Northern Ireland. You will be managing our internal and production databases, containing TBs of highly sensitive vulnerability data, in a close collaboration with the DBA team in the US. This is serious stuff: we have 25K customer websites and applications being scanned 24x7 by our production solution, which gives you an idea of the volume of data under your command. If you previously worked as a DBA with Oracle, MySQL or other databases, and would like to get some PostgreSQL experience, it is a perfect opportunity for you. Primary Responsibilities: - Design, configure, optimize and maintain PostgreSQL database servers. - Test and perform database server upgrades and patches. - Build tools to proactively monitor database activities and health. - Perform database profiling, trend analysis and capacity planning. - Perform database backup and recovery tasks. - Work closely with the development team, consult regarding schema design and changes, perform code reviews and query tuning. - Automate repetitive tasks. - Participate in designing and developing of a scalable database environment with high availability in mind. - Implement database security policies and audits. - Maintain a database knowledge base. Desired Skills and Experience: - 5 years as a database administrator. - PostgreSQL administration experience is highly desirable. - Comprehensive understanding of database internals. - Mastery of SQL. - Proficient in Linux/Unix environment. - Scripting in Shell, PERL or other scripting languages. - Experience in replication setup. - Outstanding troubleshooting ability and careful attention to details. - Excellent communication skills. - Must be a self-motivated team player and willing to learn new database technologies and trends.
