databases.

You’ll utilize your expert knowledge of PostgreSQL to help our teams work more effectively and efficiently in this hands-on position. In fact, you’ll proudly walk the Foolish hallways as the go-to ‘Postgres Fool!’ Although you’ll be working primarily with
your fellow DBAs, Developers, and Server Administrators to deliver useful end results, you’ll also show off your communication chops as you collaborate with many non-technical folks just as seamlessly. As part of a data-driven company, you’ll push yourself
to learn more about the latest technologies and stay innovative in your role. So if you exterminate runaway queries like a champ and live for animated discussions on autovacuum, we want to hear from you!
What You’ll Be Doing:

Configuring, integrating, and maintaining the Development, Staging and Production PostgreSQL databases.

Overseeing maintenance, creation, backup, recovery, and upgrading of PostgreSQL clusters.

Optimizing database performance and diagnosing issues to ensure high levels of system health and security.
Must Haves:
-
Solid 4+ years working with PostgreSQL databases in production environment.
-
Strong experience in Database Administration in PostgreSQL (8.x, 9.x).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for different levels of technical and non-technical audiences.
-
Willingness to work in an on-call environment.
-
Experience working on performance, scalability, and availability.
-
Hands-on knowledge of PostgreSQL-specific clustering and load-balancing solutions.

Strong understanding of MVCC (Multiversion Concurrency Control).
-
Knowledge of WAL.
-
Experience with Psql, Pgadmin, Phppgadmin.
-
Strong knowledge of backups and restores.
-
Strong knowledge of indexes, index management, and configuration.
-
Understanding of how statistics work, how indexes are stored, and how they can be created and managed effectively.

Knowledge of configuring query planner.
-
Understanding of database maintenance recovering disk space (Vacuum, Vacuum Full).
-
Documentation skills for processes and procedures, shell scripting for monitoring and job automation, and third party monitoring tools for content data collection.

Knowledge of Linux Server Administration (Debian preferred).

Understanding of server provisioning tools (Salt, Axemblr).
Even Better:

Knowledge of Django and Python.
-
Experience with Virtualization Technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
-
Ability to work expertly with SAN storage.
