At MeetMe, we're looking for an experienced DBA who likes to eat data for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!  

Our environment consists of Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, CouchDB, Redis, and memcached.

We’re deeply rooted in open-source: We've hired several well-known members of the open-source community, open-sourced several of our own internal systems, and contribute regularly to the projects we use.

What You’ll Do In This Role:

  • Be responsible for one of the largest OLTP-oriented Postgres systems in the world
  • Work hands-on with our engineering team to build and enhance schema as well as develop new database APIs
  • Ensure consistent database performance and reliability
  • Develop and maintain monitoring and reporting systems
  • Perform data retention, data mining, and maintenance tasks
  • Fulfill legal-related data requests

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A degree from an accredited university OR equivalent working experience
  • Database administration experience with at least one SQL and one NoSQL system
  • Experience working with UNIX/Linux
  • Experience working with OLTP systems
  • Ability to write advanced SQL queries
  • Experience with operations-related database tasks, such as monitoring, performance tuning, backup, and recovery
  • Experience with high-availability and zero-downtime database management
  • An ability to program in one or more of the following languages: C, PHP, Python, Ruby, Perl, Java
  • Knowledge of BASH scripting

What We'd Like To See: 

  • A strong understanding of clustering methodologies and optimizations
  • A background in programming, math, or computer science
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or DB2
  • Experience with Redis
  • Experience with MongoDB or CouchDB
  • Experience developing stored procedures
