Title: Database Administrator

Location: Austin, TX

Salary: 110k – DOE

 

Phoenix Staff is currently looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join an exciting and growing team in Austin. The database administrator (DBA) is responsible for maintaining the functionality and availability of the data hosted on the company’s database systems and their associated reporting capabilities. This includes data systems optimization, automation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and establishing disaster recovery solutions and procedures. All systems administration and support will be provided following PCI DSS standards and procedures. 

 

The DBA will is also assist in designing, developing, and executing system reports. This includes reports design, data loading and optimization, reports development, and the scripting associated with reports maintenance, execution, and delivery.

 

The DBA will work closely with the Software Architecture and Development teams to deploy and operate application updates and address application issues on the production platform.  The database administrator will work closely with the Help Desk to coordinate and report on the response to system issues and participate in defining and documenting operational policies and practices.

 

Your role:

·         Responsible for reports development, operations, and support on PostgreSQL 9.2 environments using PL/SQL, pg/SQL, stored procedures

·         Design, develop, and maintain a data warehouse and web-based reporting portal (e.g. Pentaho or equivalent)

·         Responsible for installing, configuring, designing, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining PostgreSQL 9.2 environments

·         Responsible for database clustering and disaster recovery solutions

·         Responsible for database optimization and scaling

• Responsible for monitoring the systems, identifying and resolving system issues

·         Responsible for database administration and security, operating in a PCI DSS compliant environment

• Must be familiar with Unix and Linux operating environments
• Responsible for providing environment and testing support for development activities
• Effective time management and self-management skills in reference to project schedules and assigned deliverable
• Capable of adapting and working within a dynamic work environment

 

What you’ve got:

• PL/SQL, pg/SQL, stored procedures
• Database administration and support on PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL, and Oracle 10G
• Experience with XML
• Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processes
• Systems administration on Windows, RH Linux, and Solaris

 

Prove it!

• 3-5 years systems administration and developer experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business related discipline
