Hello, I am looking for a PostgreSQL DBA in Dallas TX for a contract engagement with a financial services company. It is open ended in time frame and pretty flexible on the rate so there are options! They are looking for this resource around the first week of December to start Database Administrator The Intersect Group is actively searching for a Database Administrator to be part of a rapidly growing company in DFW area. The client company was founded in 2011 and has experienced over 30% growth each subsequent year. They were recognized as an emerging leader in the subprime auto finance sector by receiving the Texas Excellence Award in 2013; and followed that up in 2014 by making the “Top 100 Heavy Hitter’s List”. The selected candidate is expected to manage, administer and maintain the client’s database infrastructure ensuring data integrity, security and performance of data architecture. RESPONSIBILITIES • Set up and enforce the database standards and procedures • Define database backup and recovery procedures • Provide efficient database designs that meet the application requirements • Develop and tune complex SQL queries involving sub-selects, views, triggers, rules, and stored procedures • Monitor the performance of the SQL queries and take measures to optimize them • Participate in all phases of the system development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment • Install, configure and upgrade databases and database monitoring related products • Evaluate database features and recommend database products • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures • Implement and maintain database security (e.g. create and maintain users and roles) SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS • 8+ years DBA experience, 3+ recent years with PostgreSQL and related technologies • Knowledge of PostgreSQL v9+ and its upgrade history. • Experience installation and upgrading • Expert Linux administrator skills • Complete understanding of RDBM concepts and normalization • Possess a solid understanding of database system performance • Managing MySQL, MS SQL and data feeds from web services • Experience developing and tuning complex SQL queries involving sub-selects, views, triggers, rules, and stored procedures • Experience managing multiple database servers in a 24x7 environment • Ability to collaborate with developers on complete application solutions • BA/BS degree in computer science or similar • Excellent communication and presentation skills. • Some in-town travel will be required • Non-scheduled weekend / holiday / after-hours work required -- View this message in context: http://postgresql.nabble.com/PostgreSQL-DBA-position-in-Dallas-tp5828090.html Sent from the PostgreSQL - jobs mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- Sent via pgsql-jobs mailing list (pgsql-jobs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) To make changes to your subscription: http://www.postgresql.org/mailpref/pgsql-jobs
