Job Description:
As the Sr. DBA you'll be taking a leadership role with all database design, function, reliability, and performance. This is an exciting position that offers autonomy and teamwork. You’ll work alongside our systems, development, and analytics teams to support production, development, and business Intelligence environments. In short, you’ll be able to have control over many critical systems and will be ensuring that SquareTrade's infrastructure is robust and quick to adapt to changes.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related experience
- 4+ years of experience as a DBA in a commercial production environment
- Expert knowledge and understanding of PostgreSQL
- Solid understanding of OLTP and OLAP database design and function
- Experience with Database Tuning, Recovery (backups, disaster, etc..) and Replication
- Excellent SQL tuning skills
- Solid understanding of Linux (preferably Debian), including system tuning
- Willingness for 24 x 7 on-call availability (infrequently used)
- Knowledge of at least one scripting language
- Be organized and independent with a can-do attitude
