Postgres Database Administrator Opportunity – eCommerce Brand - Berlin, Germany My client is one of the fastest growing online brands in the world, they are currently in the process of a Global change to consolidate their environments into a single platform to cover nearly 50 countries. With their European head quarters based in Berlin, Germany they now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced DBA to play an integral role in their offices based in Berlin, Germany. My client requires a talented Postgres Database Administrator who can be accountable for the development and operation of the international platform for more than 40 countries on 5 continents. You will work with the DevOps and Database Development team to ensure scalability, stability and optimisation of the Database environment. You will need a knowledge of Postgres and be willing to focus in this area, a knowledge of other databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, DB2 and/or Oracle is beneficial. Responsibilities: " Design, development, operation and optimisation of PostgreSQL database clusters. " Database tuning, benchmarking and performance monitoring. " Automation of DB rollout and cluster administration. " Planning and implementation of DB change management workflows. " Work in conjunction with Database developers and Operational engineers to improve scalability and availability. " Operational responsibility for the most critical technical component of the company. Proven ability: " Proven ability with administration and development of Postgresql database systems. A knowledge is required of Postgres supported by SQL Server, MySQL, DB2 and Oracle. " Knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, indexing and query tuning. " Knowledge of Clustering and High Availability. " Proven ability in handling large amounts of data in high-load environments. " Deep understanding of the interaction of database, operating system and hardware. " Knowledge of storage systems (RAID, SAN, SSD). " Proven ability of Unix/Linux scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash). " Proven ability with continuous integration/deployment, git and subversion. Desirable: Knowledge of configuration management tools (Puppet, CFEngine).
