This individual will report to the company’s Manager of Information Technology. The Database Administrator is responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, maintenance and repair of Neopost Software’s databases. Duties include troubleshooting database performance issues, reviewing configuration, looking for opportunities to improve performance and actively analyzing log files to spot issues. Other duties include scripting to generate reports from the database, assisting developers with database design, optimizing SQL queries and assisting Professional Services with customer integration projects. Key responsibilities will include: -Administering PostgreSQL databases -Assisting developers with database design and optimizing SQL queries. -Ad-hoc reporting requests -Troubleshooting database performance issues -Actively analyzing log files to spot issues -Reviewing configuration and workflows looking for opportunities to improve performance Preferred Qualifications: -Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or four years of IT experience -Linux server administration -PostgreSQL 8.3+ administration -MySQL administration -SQL Server 2005+ administration -Extensive SQL scripting in any RDBMS -Experience with a diverse range of technologies and/or industries. -Experience in a dynamic scripting language like Perl, Python, Ruby, etc. -Experience with Agile development methodology. Specialized Knowledge or Skills -Excellent written and verbal communication -Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills. -Excellent customer service skills.
