We have a terrific opportunity for an experienced, talented Database Administrator to join our client's team and participate in administering very large data stores. The data architecture is composed of a complex PostgreSQL cluster together with a rapidly evolving Hadoop-based analytics infrastructure. This is a great position for an experienced professional who has administered very large data stores growing by several Terabytes per day. The position is located in the Bay Area. We're looking for an individual who thrives on delivering data store solutions that emphasize scalability and high-availability. You'll be able to exercise your deep understanding of hardware platforms, and appropriately tune data store solutions based on the particular architecture. You'll get the chance to take on complex and interesting problems as part of a fast-paced, highly collaborative team. They hold themselves to high standards, and take pride in their work. *What do you need?* Minimum 5 years experience developing and administering database infrastructure for mission critical applications. A deep understanding of database design principals. Experience maintaining large databases (>10TB). Strong SQL skills and experience writing stored procedures. Experience in performance tuning and optimization of SQL and stored procedures (PL/pgSQL). Thorough knowledge of current hardware systems, RAID and disk subsystems commonly used in fault tolerant production environments. Experience supporting redundant systems with 24X7 availability requirement. Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues. *What would be nice?* Knowledge of data-intensive, no-SQL architectures (e.g. Hadoop, HDFS, Hive) and Map-Reduce concepts.
