and due to the REINDEX syntax, I should be able to specify VERBOSE when I run the REINDEX command, to print a progress report.

Syntax:

REINDEX [ ( VERBOSE ) ] { INDEX | TABLE | SCHEMA | DATABASE | SYSTEM } name

 

But it is not working.

 

(postgres@[local]:55000)[knowledgebase]> REINDEX VERBOSE DATABASE knowledgebase;

ERROR:  syntax error at or near "VERBOSE"

LINE 1: REINDEX VERBOSE DATABASE knowledgebase;

                ^

 

Can somebody help me out regarding this issue.

 

Your syntax is wrong. Try:

REINDEX (VERBOSE) DATABASE knowledgebase;
