Why not first try the downloads page on PostgreSQL itself: http://www.postgresql.org/download/; these builds have most of the dependencies built in, and are a good starting point.

Many of us, ultimately, do our own builds to serve specific purposes, but there's no reason to start your explorations with PostgreSQL there...

We are looking to use PostgreSQL as a database for our development community and I would like to know if I can be guided to a list of packages and dependencies, which will allow me to install the product in a Red Hat Linux 5.5. environment.
