You need to change the port number in postgresql.conf file.
 
While you do initdb you have to point to a separate data directory. When you set a new port number you have to use -p (port Number) as startup options.

When starting up a second instance of postgres on a server, received:

 

LOG:  could not bind socket for statistics collector: Cannot assign requested address

LOG:  trying another address for the statistics collector

 

Is this something to be concerned with, or expected behavior?
