Need Help with Logfile Entry

Hello List,

I've installed postgres 8.1 and using a cluster which holds a database db_mail. It suppose to work with postfix and sasl-auth, but for some reason it doesn't work.
I think Sasl-auth is trying to connect to the db, the logfile shows the following entry after a postfix-sasl-auth connection attempt:

2006-07-06 23:07:50 CESTDEBUG:  forked new backend, pid=4317 socket=6

Does anyone know, if the received connection is established?  I have set the log level high enough, that there should be an entry of the query asking for the users password. But there is none. Can anybody tell me why the connections aren't used?

Thanks in advance,
Mo
