When I install upstream TeX Live, I follow the instructions at:

/SMPdesign/CPUvsEnet.eps.
If this is the case, I suspect that the .eps file generated from .tex
is somehow incompatible with the command pair.
Can you share your SMPdesign/DiningPhilosopher4part-b.eps so that I can
compare it with mine?
