There was only one specific account, for which the problem occured. There might have been more, but i didn't find any :-(

I guess it depends on what the module does.

It seems that few applications actually *use* appdata_ptr, so bugs in its handling can go undetected for a long time (I know of a couple of vendors who have shipped modules with this type of bug).
