When I had this problem with my cluster, the cluster host file /etc/resolv.conf had inaccessible name servers; removing the inaccessible name servers
from resolv.conf (and dhcpd.conf in my case so they wouldn't be reasserted) speeded things up.

I am setting up a small cluster here on RH 7.2 using NIS.  When NIS is

Without NIS running, log in is immediate. Has anyone come across this
problem?  TIA., -ar
