Slack 7.0 & OpenLdap 2.07

Hi there,
    I am trying to understand Ldap and use it to auth my linux systems
centrally.We use Slack 7.0s ..I found some document on the web saying
"modify /etc/pam.d/??.conf"  I dont any dir int /etc like that.How can I
make slack 7.0 support PAM ..?
